In 2001, Walter and Mauricio decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of starting a business, and being their background was commercial restaurant equipment maintenance, they felt this was the natural fit. VMW Maintenance Solutions Inc. was born in July 2001.
Walter, Mauricio and another partner financed the company themselves using their personal savings and their personal trucks and tools. At first business was slow, as only a single restaurant here and there would call for repair services. But eventually things picked up with jobs for Luby's, Chilies, Wal-Mart and HEB in San Antonio, Laredo and South Texas.
After a few years HEB came calling again, looking for a variety of services for their stores around South Texas. Lubys, Chilies and other chains also came calling, as VMW had built a reputation as providing great service and being prompt to their customer's needs.

As the company grew Walter and Mauricio tried to diversify their services to do whatever was required from customers, their niche was electrical and mechanical but they could do whatever a client required, whether it be refrigeration equipment, trash compactors or vent systems.
Despite recession the company is doing quite well, and HEB and other supermarkets have been a stable customer. Today the company has 21 employees and is quite busy with projects all over South Texas.
