CITY CELEBRATES 26th MINORITY ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT WEEK
For the 26th year, the UTSA Minority Business Enterprise Center will host MED Week San Antonio. MED Week stands for Minority Enterprise Development Week, and its purpose is to recognize outstanding minority entrepreneurs and advocates in San Antonio, and to provide encouragement for the 40,000 minority business owners in the area. The week consists of several events held all around the city by various organizations from October 20th to 24th.
MED Week is celebrated at the national, regional and local levels. The Commerce Department's Minority Business Development Agency and Small Business Administration sponsor National MED Week, while locally it is organized by the UTSA Institute for Economic Development’s Minority Business Enterprise Center (MBEC) and the Small Business Administration (SBA) District Office. The MBEC and SBA are joined by a consortium of public and private entities dedicated to minority business success in planning the San Antonio celebration. The main event is the MED Week Honoree Awards Luncheon to be held Thursday October 23rd 2008 at the AT&T City Center at San Fernando Cathedral from 11:30 to 1PM.
