JR Ramon and Sons, Joe Ramon Jr., President, Minority Contracting Firm of the Year

Joe Ramon Construction Company was founded by JOE RAMON, SR. in 1945. The initial company specialized in road construction and asphalt paving. Ramon Sr. recruited his two sons, Joe Jr. and Robert, into the firm in 1964 as a Project Foremen of asphalt paving projects. In preparation for World’s Fair held in San Antonio in 1968, Ramon branched into the demolition, dismantling and salvaging fields and in December of 1968 was incorporated under its present name J.R. (JOE) RAMON & SONS, INC. d.b.a. JR Ramon and Sons Inc. In the wake of the World’s Fair and the exponential economic growth experienced in Central and South Texas, the growing business developed a wealth of expertise in the demolition field.

In 1986 JOE RAMON, JR. was appointed to the position of President and still holds office to present. His wife Margaret G. Ramon assists her husband serving as Vice President to the corporation. Preserving the traditions of a family business, in 1993 TIMOTHY RAMON joined the efforts of continuing to build JR Ramon and Sons Inc. into a pioneering leader in the Demolition Industry, and currently serves as the company’s Director of Operations. As an active member of the National Demolition Association, the firm stays abreast of all advancements in demolition technologies, safety procedures, and environmental issues. JR Ramon and Sons Inc. is highly skilled in all phases of demolition, from hazardous materials abatement to final site restoration. JR Ramon and Sons Inc. was named Minority Construction Firm of the Year in 1994. Joe Ramon Jr. was recognized with the Regional Director’s Award for excellent service as a firm in the construction industry in 2005. In 2004, the firm was accepted into the Small Business Administration 8(a) program.

The company’s dominating work history focuses on DEMOLITION AND SITE PREPARATION with additional services in DISASTER RECOVERY OPERATIONS and ENVIRONMENTAL ABATEMENT. The firm’s diversity, and its commitment to safety and quality have greatly contributed to attaining major projects throughout the years. Some of these major projects include, the decommissioning of “Ray Point Mill Site, Felder Uranium Operations” for EXXON U.S.A Company, the dismantling of the landmark “Rocket” roller coaster in San Antonio, and the implosion of the Intel Building in Downtown Austin in 2007.

Today the firm’s main emphasis is focused on Demolition and Site Preparation with safety and quality as primary objectives. When engaged in any project large or small, JR Ramon and Sons Inc. holds great pride in providing their expertise with honesty and integrity.
