The History of SAN ANTONIO Minority Enterprise Development Week

The annual San Antonio Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week will be held October 7-11, 2024 and is sponsored by the Minority Business Development Agency’s (MBDA’s) San Antonio Business Centers. The San Antonio Centers’ Operator is the University of Texas- San Antonio’s Valdez Institute for Economic Development (UTSA-IED.) For over forty (40) Years, the local MBDA Centers assist Minority Business Entrepreneurs (MBEs) with consulting services, contract, financing opportunities, bonding and certification services, and building business-to-business alliances.

This is an iconic event within the business community, fostering connections, promoting diversity, and highlighting entrepreneurial minority achievement, and its Champions. “Entrepreneurs, business owners, and stakeholders . . . joined together to engage with the community and learn about current industry trends, key resources, and tools to grow and improve their business.”(National MED Week 2022) The 2024 MED Week Awards highlight the remarkable accomplishments of business and individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, growth, and social impact within their communities. Winners will be recognized during activities such as workshops, panel discussions, and the Thursday, October 10, 2024 Luncheon.
